SWON Libraries formed in 1973 (originally called the Greater Cincinnati Library Consortium or GCLC) when a group of library directors in southwest Ohio and northern Kentucky wanted a vehicle for pooling resources, sharing knowledge, and collaborating to better serve their patrons.

SWON Libraries continues that mission today by providing continuing education, taught by SWON staff or other experts to our Supporting Members and to any library staff member in our region of southwest Ohio, northern Kentucky, and beyond. SWON also helps librarians and library staff learn from each other through special interest groups that meet in person and through community resources shared on this site.

SWON provides other free benefits to Supporting Members, like consulting work and customized CE classes. Supporting Members receive reduced CE rates, including our yearly events, Level-Up Labs, Tech-to-Lend packages, and other workshops and webinars. SWON staff travel to Supporting Member libraries to teach classes and learn how we can help.
