Your State Association Supporting AASL Standards for Your Local Context

Tuesday, March 20, 2018 | 6:00 p.m. Central

How are AASL’s Affiliate state organizations supporting school librarians as they implement the National School Library Standards? This rich document requires school librarians to reflect on local conditions, practice, and student learning. While it requires a great deal of self-reflection and a growth mindset, no one has to do this alone. What are state affiliates already doing or planning to do to help their state’s school librarians make a difference for learners using the new AASL Standards? Presenters will feature several affiliates’ plans and on-going activities.

Learning Outcomes

  • The participant will be informed how the AASL Affiliate Structure supports implementation of the AASL Standards.
  • The participant will examine several PD plans developed for different conditions, such as summer institutes, annual conferences, and other state initiatives.
  • The participant will learn the value of collaborative learning and will commit to reaching out beyond the school to partner with other school librarians.
  • The participant will identify available opportunities to make a personal learning plan.

Who Should Attend
