Governance

 


Standing Committees

 

Executive Board

The Executive Board provides for the overall governance of the organization; create, revises, and approves all policies regarding the organization; and is responsible for the appointment of the Executive Director. Members of the Executive Board may serve on a number of standing and ad hoc committees, listed below.

 

Finance Committee

This committee will propose an annual budget to the Executive Board including dues and assessments from the supporting members. Other duties may be assigned to this committee as deemed necessary by the President.

Ad Hoc Committees

 

Strategic Planning Committee

This committee develops a two-year strategic plan for SWON Libraries. They convene every other year to begin working on the next plan. Other duties may be assigned to this committee as deemed necessary by the President.

Executive Director Search Committee

The Executive Director Search Committee is responsible for reviewing applications and conducting interviews for the Executive Director position and recommending candidates to the Executive Board. It is usually composed of a variety of Executive Board Members including the current President.

Evaluation Committee

The Evaluation Committee evaluates the performance of the Executive Director and recommends compensation and direction to the Executive Board. It is usually composed of a variety of Executive Board Members including the current President.

 

Membership & Dues Committee

The Membership/Dues Committee reviews and revises our dues structure for all Member types. It completed it's last 2-year project in 2016-2017.

Nominating / Board Development Committee

Convened by the President to oversee the training and development of the Executive Board, this committee is usually composed of the member of the Executive Board who will be retiring from the Executive Board at the end of the year. This committee also selects candidates for the Executive Board and oversees the annual election process.
