Strategic Plan July 2018 - June 2020

Vision: When the region’s libraries want to learn, connect, and collaborate, they turn to SWON Libraries.


Mission: Strengthening our region's libraries by providing educational opportunities and by facilitating local collaboration and conversation between libraries of all types.

 

Guiding Principles: As an active community member, SWON Libraries provides quality, trustworthy, economical, and responsive professional development and resources to all its region’s libraries by :


  • providing continuing education to help library staff improve their job performance.

  • sharing knowledge and resources with the library community to improve their operations and services.

  • collaborating using in-person and virtual spaces.


Strategic Plan:

SWON Libraries will build on our region’s strengths and skills to develop a stronger community throughout the area we serve. We intend to do this by following this plan.

  1. Provide professional development & leadership opportunities by:

    1. Developing 4 new Level-Up Lab programs each year, with at least 2 labs being presented by community partners and at least 2 labs taking place in locations other than the SWON offices.

    2. Producing 6 webinars a year featuring local experts on local topics of interest.

  2. Share knowledge & resources by:

    1. Creating a lesson plan for at least one applicable age group for each Tech to Lend item.

    2. Circulating at least 50% of the Tech to Lend collection each year with a goal to increase usage annually.

    3. Writing and obtaining one grant for SWON and/or working with one member institution that requires a 501(3)(c) partner to obtain a grant.

    4. Presenting at one local or national library conference per year.

  3. Cultivate collaborative relationships with Supporting Member Institutions by:

    1. Visiting a representative of at least 12 Supporting Member Institutions annually.

    2. Attending at least one meeting of every Special Interest Group (SIG) per year.

    3. Identifying and providing at least one workshop per year in response to a Supporting Member Institution’s need.

    4. Implementing a mobile responsive website with a modern look by July 2019.
